  • Equine Wellness: At Glamorgan Veterinary Services we feel strongly about the benefits of preventative healthcare for your horse. To facilitate this care we offer a variety of Wellness programs for you to choose from. Please look at the choices below to find the one that will work the best for your horse. If you are unable to find a good fit, please send us an email or call and we will happily customize a Wellness program for you.
    • Wellness Packages: Wellness packages are designed to meet the preventative care needs of your horse for an entire year. They are prepaid and able to be scheduled well in advance. As an added benefit for you the vaccines are competitively priced and the services provided have been discounted 20%.
      • Standard :
        • Twice yearly physical examination,
        • Yearly motorized dental maintenance,
        • Body condition assessment,
        • Twice yearly vaccinations (Encephalomyelitis, Tetanus, Rhinopneumonitis, Influenza, Potomac Horse Fever, Rabies, and West Nile Virus),
        • Coggins test, 
        • Twice yearly fecal exam, and
        • Twice yearly deworming
      • Pasture :
        • Yearly physical examination,
        • Yearly motorized dental maintenance,
        • Body condition assessment,
        • Yearly vaccinations (Encephalomyelitis, Tetanus, Rabies, and West Nile Virus)
        • Coggins test, 
        • Yearly fecal exam, and
        • Yearly deworming
      • Geriatric:
        • Twice yearly physical examination,
        • Twice yearly motorized dental maintenance,
        • Body condition assessment,
        • Twice yearly vaccinations (Encephalomyelitis, Tetanus, Rhinopneumonitis, Influenza, Potomac Horse Fever, rabies, and West Nile Virus)
        • Routine blood work for health screening,
        • Coggins test, 
        • Twice yearly fecal exam, and
        • Twice yearly deworming
      • Broodmare :
        • As “Standard” above with the addition of the 5 th, 7 th, and 9 th month Rhinopneumonitis vaccines.
        • Vaccines in the spring will be scheduled to ensure optimum protection for the newborn foal.
      • Foal :
        • Foal vaccines have a more complicated scheduling need due to waning immunity shortly after birth.
        • We will help you formulate a plan to get you newborn vaccinated at the optimal times during the first year of life.
        • Deworming product for the first year.
      • Complete Foaling :
        • Contains the “Broodmare” and the “Foal” packages above as well as Post-foaling examination of the mare and the newborn and initial blood work on the foal to ensure adequate immune levels after birth.
      • “Custom” : Don’t see what you need?  Let us know and we can design a plan to meet your horse’s specific needs.
    • Wellness Visits: For those people that don't want to commit to prepaying for a Wellness Package we have the Wellness Visit. It has many of the same services as the Wellness Packages above and can have a number of additional services added on. Since these are bundled services the procedure prices have been discounted 10%.   • Dentistry : Using motorized the SwissFloat motorized dental system.
  • Emergency care : 24 hours per day, 7 days per week coverage for your emergency needs. Surgical and extended medical cases are referred to Blue Ridge Equine Clinic ( http://www.blueridgeequine.com/).  Selected medicine cases may be sent to Dr. Fairfield Bain at Woodside Equine Clinic (http://www.woodsideequineclinic.com/).
Theriogenology (reproduction and obstetrics): At your farm or in the clinic, Theriogenology is one of the major foci at Glamorgan Veterinary Services. Dr. Stanford has been a member of the Society for Theriogenology since 1994 and will be taking his specialty board examination with the American College of Theriogenologists in August 2007. 
 
With a new breeding facility under construction we will be able to offer you high quality, state-of-the art reproductive services for both mares and stallions.

Consultation Services:

  • Complete nutritional analysis and ration formulation:
    • Using detailed sample analysis, modern ration formulation software, and with the help of Purina Mills, LLC and ADM Alliance Nutrition we can customize a diet for the specific nutritional needs of your horse.
    • Services include:
      • Body condition scoring and weight charting
      • Collection of hay and pasture samples
      • Detailed analysis of samples
      • Formulation of a complete diet using the analysis results and grain analysis data provided by Purina Mills, LLC and ADM Alliance Nutrition.
      • Optional follow-up visits after implementation of the diet.
  • General health,
  • Pasture management, manure handling, and many other topics.
